Camila arrived to the Parque Brasil in Bogotá sometime in November 2004. Right from the start we knew she was special. She became pregant very quickly and gave birth to thirteen puppies on January 11, 2005. Surrounding neighbors of the park took it upon themselves to make sure she had food and a warm place to sleep during her pregancy and the birth of her children. Within two months all of the surviving twelve pups had been adopted and Camila found herself alone and back on the street. With the help of Francisco, Eme, Juan, Giovanni, and Rachel I took Camila and had her spayed to avoid any more unwanted pregnancies on the street. Santiago and Isabel, our amazing veterinarians who are dedicated to rescuing animals off of the street, put me in touch with Olga Lucia, another animal-rescuer who had the perfect place in mind for Camila. Today Camila lives on a farm near Bogotá. Her new parents are farmers and she keeps her dad company while he works in the fields. Olga tells us that her new family loves her very much and that Camila is very, very happy in her new home.
